Here you can see a copy of our retainer agreement, as well as a copy of our fee policy. A retainer is effectively a down-payment for work done by a lawyer. It's not commonly used for property transactions with specified fees, such as purchases and sales, or for wills, but it is commonly used for extended matters in family law and litigation, like divorces, real estate disputes, etc. The funds of the retainer are drawn upon for legal expenses as work is done, until the retainer runs out, at which point the client needs to replenish the retainer or start paying directly.
